Date: 12/06/04Many are the coders or the users of REBOL that regret that REBOL plugin was only build for the navigator Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4 and up.
This article will teach you how to use the plugin REBOL with the navigator FireFox 1.0 pour Microsoft Windows.
If you have installed yet the firefox 0.9.3 and the plugin ActiveX you must proced to the uninstall of firefox 0.9.3 and erased all the remaining files and directories of firefox that will still exists after the uninstallation process.
To profit of the goodies given by REBOL Plugin in FIREFOX 1.0 there is the path to follow:
Using your current web navigator download and install the navigator FIREFOX 1.0
Once the download of the install program of FireFox is achieved, install it to your computer hard disk.
Run FIREFOX 1.0 and go to the following page:

You will need to click on the link "Click here" then firefox will start the installation procedure for ActiveX plugin Once the ActiveX plugin installation procedure is ended, close FIREFOX 1.0.
Security note: FIREFOX conceptor have decided to not include natively into FIREFOX 1.0 the support of ACTIVEX plugins because this is a security hole technologie. All adware, spyware and others trojan or download ware are based on this technology to be installed on your computer. The installation of the ACTIVEX support for FIREFOX isn't recommanded and it is at your own risks. I or the respective authors of firefox and activeX support plugin decline all responsability if you experience any desease with your computer after allowing the support of ACTIVEX plugin in FIREFOX 1.0. |
In order to actrivate the support of plugin ACTIVEX in FIREFOX 1.0 you need absolutly to edit the file MyFIREFOXdirectory/defaults/pref/activex.js with EDITPAD or your beloved text editor. Search in this file the line.
pref("security.classID.allowByDefault", false);and replace it by:
pref("security.classID.allowByDefault", true);Save and close the text editor.
No real user intervention is needed to proceed to the installation of the REBOL puglin in FIREFOX 1.0

The download and the installation of REBOL plugin will be done automatically
